Real World

During this week's episode of the Real World Brooklyn, conflict arose between the girls and the boys of the house. The girls were not cleaning up after themselves. For example, they would not take out the trash, clean their dishes, or clean the bathrooms. As a result, the boys were doing all the cleaning around the house, and they began to get agitated. Most people view cleaning a house as a woman's job, therefore cleaning would be viewed more as a feminine task. However, in this episode, the women were lazy and irresponsible, and the men were hardworking, clean, and organized.

House

During a previous episode of House, one of House's best doctors, Cameron, decided to quit. At first he tried to hire new workers, but none of them amounted to her. House had been trying to persuade her to come back and work for them. Eventually, Cameron agreed to come back, but only if House would take her out on a date. House is an arrogant, rude, and lonely person, and has had this tough, independent masculine character throughout his previous episodes. He is also the best doctor at the hospital, and he often solves the most tedious cases that no one else can. This allows him to be well respected, and people put up with his sarcastic personality. However, during this epsiode, House agrees to take Cameron out on a date. While getting ready, he was nervous because he had not been on a date for a long time. This allowed viewers to see his sensitive side. As a result, this portrays the idea that despite how strong, independent, and tough men are, they can always be sweet and emotional.

Over the weekend, I watched the movie House Bunny. This movie is about a young Playboy girl, Shelly, who gets thrown out of the mansion and encounters the Zeta sorority girls. The Zetas were on the verge of losing their house, and they needed 30 pledges in order to keep it. Shelly becomes their house mother and tries to make the girls appealing to the fraternity boys. She thinks that if guys want to come party at their house then girls will want to pledge Zeta. This reflects on the current college life of society. It portrays sorority girls as girly and superficial. They tend to obsess about appearance and worry about what guys think. This shows the feminine side that most people think of when they hear the word "feminine," girls who love to shop, wear makeup, go taning, and get pedicures and manicures.
